I was invited to visit China in Sept 2011 and be a guest speaker at the 6th Annual Shijiazhuang International Cartoon Fair.
Here are some photos from the trip.

This was the main entrance to the Hebei Institute of Communications where I gave a couple of lectures on character design, some of the basic principles of animation, and the walk cycle.
They had a big banner made up with our names on the front.

Hah! They thought I was an "Animation Expert". I sure fooled them.

I'm not quite sure if this was a compliment or not.

This was the opening night of the Animation Fair, where I was the "Guest of Honor" and got to sit in the special chair next to the Mayor of the city of Hebei.

On the last day of the Cartoon Fair, we were invited by Director Wo (standing to my right with the glasses and ball cap) to visit the animation studio he was working for.

These were taken just outside the inside entrance to the studio.

Just in front of the studio was a very large park that had about 25 statues of various cartoon characters like the one above.
On our final day of the trip, we went to the Great Wall of China close to Beijing (about 40 minutes outside the city).
We decided that we would walk up to the third tower (as we only had an hour).

These last two shots are views from the third tower, looking back down to the second tower and off in the distance, you can barely make out the square that we started from.
