Leonardo DaVinci
Is Born
He had a keen eye and quick mind that led him to make important scientific discoveries, yet he never published his ideas. He was a gentle vegetarian who loved animals and despised war, yet he worked as a military engineer to invent advanced and deadly weapons. He was one of the greatest painters of the Italian Renaissance, yet he left only a handful of completed paintings. Based on the description here, if Leonardo had been born in the 20th century, he would undoubtably have been an animator.
Here is shown a drawing by DaVinci which undeniably shows that he was working on a device which an early version of a pegbar panning table. The dials shown on the right were used to precisely control the pan movement of the pegbar. You can clearly see that the pegbar has been rotated to a 90 degree angle in order to facilitate what was most likely a vertical pan for a film that he, unfortunately , never finished.
It's possible he might have made a pretty good life drawing instructor as well.
