|Leg Walk Cycle|
|Here's a pretty basic leg cycle.
Notice how the hip line rotates on each step. It's important to notice things like this when you analyse your actions. If you didn't add in this swivel, the torso would not torque properly and the walk would appear stiff.
Of course it all depends on the style of animation you're working in and the budget of the film. If it doesn't fit the context of the character or the scene you're animating, then don't use it.
If this is just for your portfolio, then by all means put this type of action into your character's movements. It adds so much more life to the action. Employers will also see that you're able and not afraid to put a bit of extra work in to make the animation look better.
