I had some of these pinned up at my desk at Nelvana, and assume they were the ones that the producer saw as they were beginning to negotiate for the Inspector Gadget show.

You'll notice the very thick outline around the characters, I saw some graphic designs from the 50's that used this style and decided to use it in my illustrations that I was doing for a magazine at that same time. The outline really made the characters stand out more on the page, so I used it in the designs on Sherluck as well. It added more time to the drawings and really made the animation cumbersome.
