Storyboard Scene 14
Scene 14 panel 1:
Rear view shot of Fritz.
Light glows brighter.
Fritz: “It’s ALIVE ha haa haaa... It’s ALIVE!!!”
In this shot the suspense rises to it’s highest as the character is laughing and screaming maniacally. The rear view was chosen because it still hides the table and looks really cool with the streams of light flowing out around him. Well, at least I think it looks really cool.

I used a Letrajet marker set to color these panels and effects. I like the Letrajet far more than my airbrush now. There isn’t quite the same amount of control but what you give up there, you gain in saved cleaning time between each color change. With the Letrajet, you just pop out one marker color and insert another and spray away. The lack of fine control can be compensated with the use of tight frisket film. That’s the sticky clear film that you put over the drawing to mask out the areas that you don’t want sprayed. It is a pain in the butt to have to cut the frisket, long and tedious with the exacto knife but the end results look great. I masked the body and then just used two sheets of paper to do the streams of light around his head and fingers. It gives just enough definition but also a soft edge as well. I then remasked the background and took the frisket off his body and added the shadow to his back, arms and head.

In the animation stage these would all be animated with the character then if using a colorization software, I’d apply a soft edged line on his body shadows as well as the shadows from his fingers.
