Storyboard Scene 6
Scene 6 panel 1:
Fritz: “Get up on the roof you idiot!”
Igor: “Yes master.”
Here’s that reverse angle shot from the upshot in scene 4. This is called an “over the shoulder downshot”. Where we can see the dominant character in the foreground (Fritz) and we’re looking down just over the side of his head (over the shoulder) down at Igor who is the submissive character in the scene.

The use of the upshot and then the downshot helps to establish in the viewer’s mind, “who’s the boss?” It establishes hierarchy within the cartoon or film.

From the use of these two scenes, we automatically know that it’s Fritz who is the boss and Igor is his lackey. This is also established through the use of dialogue, actions and the physical design of the characters. In this film I also used Fritz first and established him as the lead character. The film would have slightly different dynamics if let’s say, I had Igor in scene 2 rather than Fritz and in scene 3 Igor enters from off screen and walks over to Fritz. The difference wouldn’t be a lot... but it would be different.
